When I first started my hosting company I was shopping around for along time for a cheap dedicated servers to run Hsphere on. I found one data center that has very good prices and has decent support, however they will not support RedHat Enterprise and I had talk them into installing Redhat 7.3 but now I need to update to Enterprise so now I’m hunting for datacenters that support RedHat Enterprise and have prices comparable to www.managed.com. I have been around the block and back looking. So I come here to ask if any one knows of any affordable datacenters?

www.managed.com

I have a question about managed.com:
they don't rent their hardware managed at these prices, do they?
that would be pretty crazy ...

Greeitngs:

While the company / domain name is "managed.com," the servers they rent are unmanaged.

Thank you.

Order from managed.com and have rack911 install Centos3.1 + APF + Hsphere ... the overall cost still doesn't hurt ...

I'm not familiar with that setup does it work and will be supported?

Greetings:

The owner of Rack911.com admitted to hacking a site, stealing the domain name, and redirecting it to ****o sites.

See http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=274547&highlight=be+careful+of+whom+you+hire

Be very careful of whom you hire.

Thank you.

Thanks for the lead I will check it out.

My experience with Steve was so far very satisfactory. He took only a few hours to completely install centos3.1, firewall AFP and hsphere. He was prompt to answer any question I had. He even inform me of latest security update.

But he is not a hsphere guru, thus after installation I read the manual and take over from there to configure hsphere the way I want it.

Centos3.1 = RHE 3x

http://www.centos.org/

Yes it is supported by hsphere.

Greetings:

I'm glad your experience is ok. Hopefully, however, people who believe it is justified to hack and steal generally stay the course unless they have a life altering experience.

When Steve and I talked about the issue via messages, he stated there were no rules against hacking and stealing. So go figure.

Thank you.

There are none .. Its like a thief who says hey as long as I don't get caught .. Its not a crime .. In Steves case .. For every thing turn turn turn .. His season will turn ..

And how do these guys get work .. Hang around WHT ??

Anyhow .. I have strayed the thread .. Sorry

The WHT thread was in May, which I am not aware, I actually use his service in July. Anyway he deal with me and did the job professionally. I was shock at first when I read the thread by the time I finish the thread, phew, I guess he is inexperience in life but not in his skill. Anyway I have change my root password a few time as I need psoft support to fix the "broken" beta in my server a few times.

Greetings:

While the thread is only a few months old, a hacker and a thief do not change their colors until they have a life changing event.

He continues to get very mixed reviews in WHT to this day.

Thank you.

Just an update, www.vrtservers.net seems great. I ordered a few hours ago and they told me the server will be ready on Monday, apologizing for the delay. Am I dreaming, never have I encounter such quick respond? They provide Centos3.1 pre-installed.

However they are new kid on the block.

If you want fully managed on RHEL, you are looking at a minimum of ~$300/month. One of the big factors (besides support) behind this is that companies offering truly managed servers will want to use name brand hardware, such as Dell and IBM, rather than whiteboxes for the hardware support. Inevitably, this means additional costs which must be passed to the customer.

(Trust me, I have experience in this...)

Cheers,
Matthew

I love companys that bash direct competition (however he claims we are not due to price differences which is irrelevant) regardless of their skill and with out knowing the full facts of a matter. Its all about gaining a extra client. Not very professional. Like the time someone posted a review of my services on wht and he posts that thread saying they should have investigated more... He will run that thing into is grave, but hey.. its how you bounce back from something.

Greetings Steve:

RE: http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=274547&highlight=be+careful+of+whom+you+hire

Sexual predators are in a database for life.

Doctors who commit malpractice are not able to practice medicine for life.

If a security administrator admits to using client information (a trust relationship) to hack into the client's system (breaking and entering), defacing the site (vandalism), stealing the domain names (theft), then should not something similar apply?

Steve, I would have these thoughts and feelings without regard to my profession.

Ethics are ethics.

Thank you.
