We are about ready to retire our current MS SQL server from it's current hardware and put up a new one on a more powerful box. The server is only running MS SQL (2000) not IIS or any other applications.

We are currently evaluating hsphere so naturally the question comes up; is it possible to install an new MS SQL server, install hsphere and include it in the hsphere cluster but still have non-hsphere customers using the MS SQL server?

Greetings Jonas:

While I've not tested it, I believe this would work as long as the non H-Sphere portion would understand H-Sphere's naming conventions and stay away from them.

Thank you.

either that or create an h-Sphere account that you would use just to create the MSSQL databases for you non hsphere clients .. this way H-Sphere would be aware of them.

Done it on UNIX just recently .. two seperate Apache Servers with two Diff PHP configs ..

Step carefully and yes .. Of course it can be done ..

We're doing it. We don't allow the non HSphere accounts any sort of access to the box, so we can keep a tight rein on what happens with it.
