Hello everyone,

I'm sorry if this question has been asked before. If it has please provide me with the link for the answers.

My question is: How difficult is it to move all Hsphere servers (cp, dns, mail, etc.) to new servers in a new data center?

Let say I have a few servers at a data center and these servers are running cp, dns, mail, web, etc. If for some reasons I'm not happy with the current data center and I want to move all my servers to a different data center, of course with new IP addresses at the new data center.
Is it possible at all to move seamlessly and how do I go about doing this?

If it is, does it have any impact on the customers?
If it isn't, what would you do?

Please advise.

Regards,
Tom

Greetings:

Yes, it can be done. Yes, it can be easy if you prepare the proper documentation ahead of time.

Please see http://www.psoft.net/requests/server_migration.html

Thank you.

We just did this about a month ago and it was a very smooth move. The only problem we _could_ have had was if the resellers or anyone who manages their own nameservers did not follow our instructions and update their IP's (if required). Fortunately, they all did as instructed so no problems.

The biggest thing I would suggest is if you are not 100% sure of how to do what is required, get someone who does. That's what we did and it was pretty painless.

Good Luck! :)
