I'm planning to develop an e-commerce website and sell gardening tools. My question is what merchant account providing company to use. I'm from Eastern Europe and not many companies work of these services work over here. I appreciate any kind of help. Thanks in advance.

I would try www.worldpay.com

First of all thanks for your suggestion, but I've looked at them just a little while ago and I find their setup fee simply unaffordable. If you, or anyone else knows of a cheaper alternative I'd love to hear it. Worldpay, while it looks good "on paper", is completely out of my reach (financially of course).

I am currently on the search myself as my previous processor closed the door and there are not many options for people from Europe.
www.volpay.com may be an option for you.

What I found on the net that would service Europe is ikobo, moneybookers and worldpay (which we've discussed). Out of these ikobo seems more appealing because of the lower fees and the fact they say they send a visa card to use when withdrawing money. Will search some more though.

Do a search about Ikobo on www.webhostingtalk.com
As far as I heard there were problems recently...

I had no problem with them and I am using the service regularly. I have noticed that when a service has a very high number of clients there is always someone who has problems (because he or she did something wrong in most of the cases). The same principle is valid for paypal. Take a look at www.paypalsucks.com …

OK, I did that. I agree some stuff looks bad but from what I can see they're all old posts there, so maybe they've got their stuff together now. I understand this is a relatively new company so I suppose problems are bound to appear. I'm not defending them or anything, I'm not too familiar whit the system but so far they look like the only option in my case, because the other services won't cover my region. I suppose further investigations are in order.

It's true I had some problems in the past, but as you said they are a relatively new company so problems could occur. Now they have a respectable customer support system and made other improvements that made me stay with them. I like them because they cover 170 countries which is a good coverage compared to its competitors area of coverage.

You say you've had some problems? What kind of problems are you talking about? I hope it was nothing serious like frauds and money disappearing from your account or something like this. I keep hearing about these types of problems with other companies. :(

You obviously work for Volpay as they are a bunch of rip-off merchants and Tyler is nothing but a con man.

DO NOT USE VOLPAY UNLESS YOU WANT THEM TO HAVE EVERY CENT OF YOUR TRANSACTIONS!!!!!

No. My money never dissapeared from the account and I like these ikobo guys because they always add new features to the service. Also, they lowered again the transaction fees.

Ok, I see, good to know, I was beginning to worry. :)
I really like ikobo so far, and I would hate to have to look elsewhere. So far they've done nothing to make me do that, I hope they won't do anything in the future as well.

In the past I tried several payment processing companies and let me say that my team was not happy with the number of customers. Also the percentage that we gave away because of the high fees we've got was another factor that made us look elsewhere. So, the conclusion is, search for the service that better suits you.

Yes indeed, one of the things that made me chose ikobo were the fees. You see, I'm only in this part-time so I don't have enough money, or enough sales to go for the big players (along with their big fees) in this business. For the current level at which my business is, I'd say ikobo is pretty much what I need.

No, I dont work for him. No need to get angry.

Yes. This is one the things I apreciate in my business relationship with ikobo. I don't have to have a bank account. I just go to the ATM and withdraw my money. Easy and fast.

Speaking of ATM withdrawals, can anyone tell me if there are any additional fees apart from the $1.99 ikobo charges per withdrawal. With most of these companies, there are also hidden fees which you also pay sometimes without even knowing. I never paid to much attention to this, but I was wondering if anyone using the ikard could tell me.

Nope. There are no hidden fees. Jut the 1.99$ charge for any sum of money you withdraw. You have to pay attention to your local exchange rates. I learned that every ATM has it's own exchange rate. If you withdraw large sums of money, it would be better to checkout the exchange rates of your local banks. You can easily do that using the internet.

I see, thanks! Good news indeed, I can only hope it is so. I suppose I'll know as soon as the card arrives. I received the mail about it being shipped to me a couple of days ago. How long do you think it will take to arrive considering I'm in Europe (if you have any idea of course) :D
Thanks!

As a matter a fact I have. :)
You would know also if you have read their website more thorough fully. It usually takes no more than 8 working days. What kind of shipping option did you choose? I hope you are aware of the shipment details...
