View Full Version : Reseller Aliases
Just got set up as a Unix reseller, and I'm having some trouble with the aliases. For instance, when a new user signs up, they recieve an email from webmasters@myhost.com, meaning my private label solution is not working and they can see who my provider is. This also happens when they log in to webmail, they see mail.myhost.com, rather than my private label name.
Also, even though the system aliases such as cp.mydomain.com say the are set up, they are not working either.
I initially went into E.Manager and set up my service domain and the aliases. I did not create any custom A records though, is this step necessary? Could this be causing my problem?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
First thing you need to do is to set up your information in the control panel as far as support email address, sight name, and so forth in the company information area of the settings menu in the reseller control panel. This will then default the emails from the proper site. Without this information, hsphere will send the emails from the parent site.
As far as the server info, in the Emanager for the reseller control panel, there is a setting for shared alias under the Emanager link. Open that up (after you remove all the settings you put in) and add the settings already created by hsphere.
That should do it!
Thanks for the info. I am now successfully recieveing mail from the correct domain, but the alias problem is still haunting me.
When I set up a test domain, I received an email that said to go to a URL to login and access my account. The url looks like
http://1154D.u23.mydomain.com. Well, all is good until I actually login, then the URL looks like this: http://r39.res.myhost.com:8080/psoft/servlet/psoft.hsphere.CP/testdomain/11494_0/
As a private label reseller, I cannot have my providers domain in ANY url, additionally, when I login to webmail it also has their domain.
Even my signup links appear as http://r39.res.myhost.com:8080/psoft/servlet/psoft.hsphere.CP?action=signup&plan_id=7064&signup=yes&template_name=signup/begin.html
Is this a problem on my end or theirs?
Regardless of who's problem it is, I need to get this fixed. Please help!
Lets try this:
In the main login window, before you login to the admin account, there is a link on the left side to change the reseller url: this should be http://cp.yourdomain.com:8080. Double check that. when done, login to the admin account, and go to Emanager. In the DNS Manager, you should have one entry set up. that reads:
Name: yourdomain.net Email: webmaster.yourdomain.net
click EDIT next to that entry, and you should see the following:
ns2.yourdomain.net 86400 IN A your.name.server.ip
ns1.yourdomain.net 86400 IN A your.secondname.server.ip
(if you have your own nameservers)
mysql.yourdomain.net 86400 IN CNAME mysql.hostdomain.net
cp.yourdomain.net 86400 IN CNAME cp.hostname.net
mail.yourdomain.net 86400 IN CNAME mail.hostname.net
web.yourdoamin.net 86400 IN CNAME web.hostname.net
Some more records may be invloved depending on what your host has set up for their servers.
If these settings are correct for your domain, then I would suspect something is wrong with the way your host has the reseller DNS set-up. If you like, I can take a closer look for you, you can email me via these boards, and I would be glad to help out more.

Thanks again for all your help.
When I go to cp.mydomain.com:8080 I see the following message:
The requested page wasn't found.
Please use the control panel location written in your welcome email.
So obviously there is a configuration problem. I checked in the E.Manager, and all the server aliases are there including cp.mydomain.com-->cp.myhost.com and my nameservers.
What should I tell my host to get this thing working? Is there anything else I can do?
Have you created your main reseller account and made it a service domain? This is where you get the main control panel page when you go the http://cp.mydomain.com:8080 if not, See this thread for instructions: http://www.forum.psoft.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=389
Other than that, I'm all tapped out on suggestions here- Anyone else? It is probably something so simple, that I am overlooking it-haha
If this still doesn't work, you need to contact your host, and have them check to make sure that all the settings for the reseller accounts are in place, including the DNS entries, and reseller alias'

Yeah, service domain is set up. I think I've looked at everything on my end. Is PSoft support in the house? Any ideas from you guys?
Guys,
does the "reseller control panel" uses the same IP as the original webhost one?
I mean, do they resolve to the same canonical domain?
If so, isn't it too easy for a potential customer to find out where the reseller is buying from (and go to the source)?

When you first login, before logging into admin account...click the "change urls" on the left..
That did it, thanks WebDude!
